Who can be an Everyday Hero?

Are you a Black man concerned about the academic and social challenges facing African American boys? Steps to Success is looking for men of strong character who can share their stories of personal, academic and career success with our second and third grade boys.

There are numerous and flexible ways to be involved:

1) Serve as a guest speaker at the Saturday Cultural Academy (1.5 hours on one Saturday).

2) Provide escort services on Saturday outings/field trips (approximately four hours).

3) Become an academic advisor who conducts monthly, face-to-face meetings with one or two males to review their academic progress.

4) Serve on an events committee to raise funds for the program and provide boys scholarships to specialty programs.

5) Help build the Steps to Success Web site.

6) Invite program participants to visit you at your place of employment.

7) Help recruit volunteers.
